PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a central government subsidy scheme for residential rooftop solar. A household with a valid electricity connection and its own roof can apply through the national portal. The published slab is ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above. We prepare and file the application and coordinate the DISCOM inspection; the credit is released by the government to your bank account. Current rules and amounts are published at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
From the day you sign the work order: site survey + structural design (3 days), material delivery (4 days), installation (1 day), and DISCOM net metering inspection (5–7 days). Total: ~14 days end-to-end. Subsidy credit follows ~3 weeks later.
Panels still generate under cloud cover, at reduced output, and net metering lets you draw from the grid against credits earned on sunny days. In the Jodhpur region dust is the bigger factor — settled dust on the glass reduces output until the panels are cleaned, which is why our AMC includes scheduled cleaning. Mounting structures are specified to the wind-load class for the site; the exact rating is stated in your quote.
We do a free structural assessment first. For older roofs, we use an elevated GI mounting structure (no penetration into RCC). For tight spaces, bifacial panels or a tilted elevated structure can fit a 5 kW system in as little as 350 sq ft. We'll only proceed if the roof can safely host the system.
The system is transferable. The DISCOM net-metering account is updated to the new owner's name and we handle that paperwork. Manufacturer panel warranties are tied to the installation, so they continue with the new owner.
Rooftop solar loans are offered by several banks and NBFCs in India, and PM Surya Ghar systems are eligible for concessional retail lending. Rates, tenure and eligibility are set by the lender and vary by applicant — we help you prepare the application and share the quote and technical documents the lender asks for. Your monthly EMI (typically ₹4,000–6,000 for a 5 kW system) is usually less than your current electricity bill, so you save from month one.
