Two consequences worth understanding before you choose a system size. A 3 kW system attracts the full ₹78,000, which makes it the most subsidy-efficient size available. And a 10 kW system also attracts ₹78,000 — not more — so on larger projects the subsidy covers a much smaller share of the cost. Budget on the gross figure and treat the subsidy as a reimbursement that arrives later.

Who is eligible

  • You are a domestic consumer with a valid JdVVNL electricity connection
  • You own the roof, or have the owner's written consent to install on it
  • The modules are on the MNRE ALMM approved list
  • The installation is done through a registered vendor and net metering is approved
  • You have a bank account for the credit

Documents you will need

  • Recent JdVVNL electricity bill showing your consumer number
  • Identity proof and address proof
  • Proof of property ownership, or the owner's consent letter
  • Bank account details and a cancelled cheque or passbook copy for the credit
  • Photograph of the installed system and the commissioning report (we provide these)

How the money actually reaches you

This is the part most commonly misunderstood, so plainly: the subsidy is not a discount on your invoice. You pay the installer the agreed amount. After the system is installed, inspected by JdVVNL and commissioned with a net meter, the subsidy claim is submitted and the government credits the amount directly to your bank account.

That means you need the full project cost available up front, with the subsidy arriving afterwards. Any installer offering to "adjust the subsidy in the bill" is either financing it themselves, in which case ask what that costs you, or describing something that does not match how the scheme works.

Where applications get stuck

We would rather set your expectations correctly than promise a date we do not control:

  • Name mismatches. The electricity connection, the property document and the bank account should be in the same name. Mismatches are the single most common cause of rejection, and they are far easier to resolve before filing than after.
  • Non-ALMM modules. If the panels are not on the approved list, the claim fails. This is why the model number appears on your quote.
  • DISCOM inspection scheduling and net-meter availability. Entirely government-side.
  • Portal processing time. Also government-side, and variable.
