Home PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Up to ₹78,000 Direct Subsidy
From the Government of India

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is the largest residential solar subsidy in Indian history — and homes anywhere in India qualify cleanly. Here's exactly how it works.

The Scheme

What is PM Surya Ghar?

Launched in February 2024, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a Government of India scheme aimed at installing rooftop solar in 1 crore homes across India by 2027. The central government provides direct cash subsidy to your bank account based on the system size you install.

For most Indian homeowners installing a 3 kW or larger system, this works out to a flat ₹78,000 cashback — roughly 25–30% of the total project cost.

Common Questions

Subsidy FAQs

Two options. Option A: You pay LIUMIQ the full ₹2,62,000 (for a 5 kW system) and the ₹78,000 subsidy is later credited to your bank by govt. Option B: You take a Tata Capital / Bajaj Finserv solar loan for the post-subsidy amount only — we deduct the subsidy upfront from the invoice. Most customers prefer Option B (zero upfront).
Rejection rates for valid applications are under 2%. The most common reason is mismatched name on the electricity bill vs Aadhaar. We pre-screen all documents before submission to catch this. If rejected, we re-file at no extra charge.
Standard timeline is 30 days from final inspection by your DISCOM. We've seen credits as fast as 18 days in many cities. The delay (if any) is on the central PFMS system, not on us.
As of 2026, several states (e.g. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh) offer additional state subsidies on top of the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy for residential consumers — others do not. We check eligibility for your state during the survey and file all available subsidies on your behalf.
Yes. The subsidy is capped at ₹78,000 for any system size 3 kW or above. So if your bill justifies a 10 kW system, install 10 kW — you still get ₹78,000 subsidy, you just pay more for the larger system. The economics still work out positively.
